It is with heavy hearts that we bring this news to our friends and family.

Dr. James Reid died Saturday March 18, finally succumbing to a long illness. He was under hospice care at his home in South Carolina when he died. Dr. Reid practiced at the Vienna Animal Hospital from 1962 until his retirement in 2007. He was a local and national leader of Veterinary Medicine, winning many prestigious awards and accolades, along the way, including Virginia Veterinarian of the Year. He was also one of the veterinarians instrumental in forming and then guiding the Hope Center, as well as a trusted friend and mentor to many veterinarians in the area. Jim was also involved in the local community, and was a long time member of the Vienna Optimist Club.

The Vienna Animal Hospital is now accredited by the American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP)!

The Mission of AAFP is to improve the health and welfare of cats by supporting high standards of practice, continuing education, and scientific investigation.
